ECLA of Bard is a state-recognized liberal arts university offering an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum with a global sensibility. Interactive teaching, a convivial campus atmosphere, and small-group, discussion-centered classes (including seminars and tutorials) create an opportunity for serious dialogue both inside and outside the classroom. The language of instruction is English. Students in the four-year BA programme concentrate in art and aesthetics, ethics and political theory, or literature and rhetoric. Through its 2011 merger with Bard College - a leading American liberal arts college - students at ECLA of Bard may earn both a German and an American bachelor’s degree. Bard’s well-known strengths in civic engagement and extensive international dual-degree partnership programmes offer opportunities for exploration and connection to students and faculty throughout the Bard network in Russia, South Africa, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, East Jerusalem, and the United States.
